Weigh In and Moderated Failure

First, the weigh in, then the news.

Weight:     302.6 lbs
Body Fat: 43.2%
Water:      43.5%

If you read yesterday's blog, you know I was running late when I left for work.  Those of you who follow the twitters know that I also forgot to pack a lunch, and therefore, went and had a quesadilla burger for lunch.

It wasn't the best option, but it was enjoyable.  To help make up for it, I only had some air-popped popcorn for dinner, and spent about 1.5 hours on the Wii Fit Plus.  I'm trying to establish some kind of workout routine, but it's a little hard to do, given that I know I'm back on 2nd Monday, and then I'm going to 1st for at least a week, followed by the disruption of Thanksgiving.

I'm actually considering not going anywhere for the holiday, I'm just really getting settled in here and back to some semblance of a routine, and I don't necessarily want to disturb that with a holiday meal that's all about excess and the boozing.  Travel of that kind also tends to be terrible for diet (though I've shown it can be done, albeit poorly).

At any rate, I'm having a piece of Nutrisystem Frozen French Toast, a slice of whole grain bread (carbohydrate), a juice box (fruit), and 8oz of skim milk (dairy) for breakfast.  I'm going to grab a Nutrisystem Cheesy Mashed Potatoes to take for lunch, and that should get me through the day.

Later, Fatheads.

Weigh In

So I took that Nutrisystem Hot Dog in for lunch yesterday, and had some air-popped popcorn, peppers, and Nutrisystem BBQ Soy Chips for a snack when I got home.

For dinner, I had a PB&J sandwich, some carrots, and a bit of light ranch dressing.

Weight:     303.2 lbs
Body Fat: 42.7%
Water:      43.9%

I made sure to drink plenty of water yesterday, so I don't feel dehydrated like I did yesterday morning.  For breakfast, I'll be having the same thing I did yesterday, as I'm once again running late.

Breakfast and Weigh In

Morning, Fatheads, here's the daily numbers report:

Weight:     304.6 lbs
Body Fat: 42.9%
Water:      43.7%

I should probably note that I feel rather dehydrated, today.  Now, breakfast:

I was in a hurry this morning, because I allowed myself to hit the snooze button too many times, so I went cold for breakfast, having some Nutrisystem Low Fat Granola.

For sides, I had a piece of whole wheat toast (carbohydrate), a juice box (fruit) and 8 oz of skim milk (protein).  Now, I've got to hurry my ass to work.

Bonus: money shot of my lunch for work.

Dinner, Inadequacy

So I took my first real walk around my new neighborhood this afternoon, and I realized just how badly out of shape 2 months of a bizarre schedule, poor or inconsistent eating, and not working out or walking much at all can make me.  I walked about a mile in around15-20 minutes, and it was not entirely pleasant.

It was, however, affirming.  I've been thinking I wasn't doing TOO awful, but this showed me the error of my ways.  I'd actually been thinking, "well, while you're out taking care of this errand, you can stop at the deli and have dinner".  My little stroll disabused me of the notion that I could get away with that, quite yet.

So I was a good boy, and came home for a nice frozen Nutrisystem Spinach & Cheese Stuffed Shells entree for dinner.

For sides, I had some sliced peppers (vegetable), carrots (vegetable), a slice of whole grain toast (carbohydrate) and some light ranch dressing (fat).  For dessert, I'm thinking I'll have one of my Nutrisystem Ice Cream Sandwiches, and possibly some air-popped popcorn with salt (oh yeah, I'm living dangerously).

Oh, as a quick note, all I ate between breakfast and dinner was the Nutrisystem meal I brought with me to work for lunch.

See you in the morning, Fatheads.

Return... Again

Well, Fatheads, it's been an exciting two weeks since I last checked in at 303 lbs.  I had a major weekend of travel for the marriage of one of my oldest friends, which of course meant much eating of rich food and drink for the celebrating, followed by an extra long work week to make up for the time taken off, during which I had only enough time to make the life-changing decision to buy a new car, which meant no time left over for shopping for groceries, which meant I ate fast food all week long, and then decided to have another weekend of boozing to celebrate my new purchase/put off reality for another 2 days.

I had no idea how stupid that sounded until I typed it.

Regardless, I'm back on the wagon as of last night (finally bought groceries Sunday) and also back on 1st shift, which entails a less intense kind of packing for my work meal, as well as rather early mornings.

Weight:     310.2 lbs
Body Fat: 44.6%
Water:      42.4%

As you can see, my misbehavior has caught up with me, and I, once again, have my work cut out for me.  I'm in the clear until Thanksgiving, as far as routine-disturbing events (though I might have more shift-changes in my future), so I'm gonna go hardcore and see if I can't reintroduce some exercise to my routine... later, not this morning.

So for breakfast, I had a frozen Nutrisystem Ham & Cheese Omelet.

I also enjoyed a slice of whole grain toast (carbohydrate), an egg (protein), and a "jazz apple" (fruit).  I'd never heard of them before, so I bought a few this week.  They taste rather like pears, which is a bit disconcerting, but not unpleasant.

For lunch, I'm  packing my old standby: Nutrisystem Red Beans and Rice With Sausage.  It's more convenient than the other two lunches I enjoy, the mashed potatoes and hot dogs, which require boiling water or a plate and a bun.

Well, I'm off to get ready for work, keep on rocking in the free world.

Hiccups, Back To Work

So I had to dine out yesterday, and it could have gone a bit better.  We went to a deli for a retirement lunch for a colleague, and I had some manner of small sub sandwich with a fruit cup instead of chips, which wasn't so terrible, but for dinner, we went to a seafood joint and I had fish and chips with the diet coke (I had to return to work).  Fish and chips is possibly one of the worst things you can eat, but I kind of don't care.  I realized I'd finally gone coastal, and I hadn't had the chance to eat seafood since I've gotten here.  Oh, I also ate 2 apples and a South Beach snack bar at work, yesterday, and went to bed around 3:30am this morning.

Weight:     305.2 lbs
Body Fat: 42.8%
Water:      43.8%

I think I'm ok with these numbers.

I'm back on the horse today, and I'm going to grab a quick frozen Nutrisystem Toasted Ham & Cheese for lunch with some cinnamon raisin toast and an apple, then mosey on down towards work.

G'day, Fatheads.

October 21, 2010

Quick Update

I need to be in early today for a retirement lunch, and I've hit the snooze alarm too many times, so I'm gonna make it quick.  Last night, I ate my frozen Nutrisystem Turkey Pepperoni Pizza, a bagel with cream cheese (half at dinner, half at the end of my shift), some carrots, an apple, some grapes, and I had a South Beach snack bar at the very beginning of my shift.

Weigh In For Justice

So, I realized this morning that I'm in a bit of a strange spot.  I tossed a bunch of my old Nutrisystem food at the beginning of the month, because I was tired of having such a surplus around.  I'm looking at running into the same thing in the near future, though, because I'm basically only eating lunch and dinner most days, and I haven't been eating frozen meals all that much.  I'm thinking of taking one to work tonight, and seeing how well it lives in my desk before meal time.

Weight:     303.6 lbs
Body Fat: 43.3%
Water:      43.4%

All continues according to my master plan, and now, I consume me some lunch.

I decided to grab one of my frozen Nutriystem lunches, the Steak & Cheese Melt.

Along with 2 slices of this cinnamon raisin bread (toasted) and a few grapes (not pictured).  Glorious, glorious lunch, this was.  Afterwards, I moved on to putting together my foods for work.

As you can see, I'm taking some carrots, 2 apples, and some grapes with me to work.  Not pictured is a bag of my remaining various flavors of South Beach snack bars, along with an assortment of Nutrisystem snacks and desserts (I've found it's just easier to keep those things in my desk, rather than bring them on a daily basis).  Now, time to hit the showers and get out the door for the workings.

Later, Fatheads.

Bonus Evening Post

Since you've all been such good little boys and girls, and I've had a long night and last night's House isn't all that exciting, you get a bonus post!  So I took carrots, cauliflower, some olives, an apple, and A Nutrisystem BBQ Sauce over Beef, Beans and Rice.  When I first got to work, I ate one of my South Beach snack bars.

I only ate the entree, the bread, a Nutrisystem Peanut Cookie, and the apple.  I just didn't feel hungry all shift, or, rather, I didn't find any of the food interesting.  Unfortunately, I had to go fucking grocery shopping at WalMart after work (where else is open at midnight?)

The whole trip was an exercise in self control.  You walk in the door, and there's a goddamned sandwich stand (right after the "please buy these discount day-old baked goods" section).  I like sandwiches, I am what you might call a "sandwich person".  I almost talked myself into "just a six inch sub" but then I moved on to vegetables.  Picked up baby carrots, apples, green beans, and some grapes.  From there, I once again had to walk past delicious baked goods.  Seriously, fuck you, WalMart.

On to the bread aisle, where I picked up a loaf of whole grain, and a loaf of cinnamon raisin, because I live dangerously.  In the same aisle, I grabbed some tea, and looked for honey, because I need some for my tea, and it made sense to me that it would be there.  I did not find the tea, so I continued to the soda aisle, past more fucking baked goods, to grab a couple of 12 packs.  Who the fuck decided that delicious nuts and chips and things need to be in that aisle?

After this, I moved on, past baked goods, past other snacky items, to the checkout, where I allowed myself a tube of peanuts... which I then put back.  I checked out and got the hell out of there, victorious.

So I got home, and had this feast.  2 pieces of burn cinnamon raisin toast, a PB&J sandwich, and some grapes.  Jesus Christ, how wrong has my life gone that THAT is a fantastically decadent post-work late-night meal?

Well, I'll take this opportunity to discuss something that a very few of you might wonder about, and others already probably know because they work in similar circumstances.  At work, cameras are highly verboten.  If you're across the street from the property, and the security force (which operates 3-4 shifts and is ALWAYS fully-staffed) catches you, they will confiscate your camera and film and possibly detain you for the police, even if you're an employee.  If you have a work camera permit, and you take a picture in a part of the plant your permit doesn't cover, roughly the same principles go into affect.  Camera permits only allow you to use company equipment, and only for company business.

The point of all this is that there will not be any pictures of food from work.  I keep meaning to take them before I go to work of my little adorable tupperwares, but I keep forgetting.  When I'm back on first shift, dinner pictures may resume, and I'm going to try and get back in the habit of taking breakfast or lunch pictures, when I actually eat those meals.

Well, I'll probably be up until 3 or 4am, so I'm going to get to watching my Hulu queue, and hope I can wake up at a half-decent hour today.

G'morning, Fatheads.

Cold Continues, So Does Weightloss

Yeah, I'm still suffering through this cold, although I feel better this morning than I have in about a week.  Last night, I took some carrots, cauliflower, 2 apples, a slice of whole grain bread, and a Nutrisystem Southwestern Chicken Wrap with me to work.

I keep South Beach snack bars in my desk, so I had one of those when I first got in, because I became ill while doing my morning grooming, and threw up my breakfast.  I also ate one of the apples, most of the carrots, the bread and the entree, which was new for me, and rather good.  I also had a Nutrisystem Peanut Butter Cookie for dessert, which I enjoyed.

When I came home, I had a few sugar free lollipops, and eventually got to sleep around 4am.

Quick Weigh-In

I kind of let myself oversleep this morning, because I still feel rather unwell, so I'm doing a barebones blog.

Last night, I got a medium The Works Papa John's Pizza for dinner, and ate half of it.  The remaining half is in the fridge, and I'm going to have some for a quick breakfast, and use one piece as the entree for my dinner I'm taking to work.

Miserable Lungs

So my cold started to turn for the worse yesterday afternoon, and I didn't feel like getting the various parts of my dinner together at the appointed time, so I ordered a "traditional" p'zone (onions, green peppers and sausage) and 8 hot wings from Pizza Hut.  It was a step up for me, as I've gotten into the habit of finding the most economical coupon on a pizza site and ordering accordingly.  I instead chose to focus on a not unreasonable meal and the convenience of not having to cook for myself.

This morning, I woke up feeling even worse.  The cold has mostly decided to leave my head alone, but now I've got some soreness under my nose from all the leaking, and my chest feels like it's half full of fluid.  I woke up coughing a bunch of times last night, and I've got that sore chest/stomach/back muscles thing you get from coughing too much.

Bottom lined: I'm kind of miserable.  I want soup, but I have no desire to leave my home, so I'm going to order some miso and a sweet & sour pork combo plate with wonton soup.  Now, I guess I could order takeout from my deli (which has the actual chicken soup), but the CampusFood website kind of sucks at getting that particular restaurant orders on time, I don't have enough cash for a delivery order, and I hate giving my credit card number on the phone when I'm NOT sick (my voice is just a wee bit off).

Oh, you don't care?  You just want to know what my 'za cost me last night?

Weight:     307.6 lbs
Body Fat: 43.8%

I can live with it, I have to force myself to behave during the week, anyway.  I'm gonna go order my breakfast/lunch now, and see if I can't remove a lung through ballistic gas discharge.

Saturday Morning Weigh-In

So yesterday, I took a Nutrisystem entree (I can't remember which one) a slice of whole wheat bread, some carrots, some cauliflower, 2 apples and several bottles of G2 with me to work, as is my wont.  I ate the apples and carrots over the course of my shift, but decided to have a treat after I left work around 11:30 since I was staying up late to play the video games.

Unfortunately, "go to Wendy's and order something sensible" turned into "go to Wendy's and order all the things".  I got a Baconator (double/standard) with a large fry and 10 piece nugget.  Clearly, I way overdid it.  That being said:

Weight:     306.6 lbs
Body Fat: 43.4%
Water:      43.3%

I'm still moving in the right direction, so I'll call it a stumbling block.  As I've said before, your body can take the occasional "fuck you", and keep on running.  The danger is that it leads to a feeling that you can get away with anything, which is quickly disproven as soon as you try more than a  meal/day of bad behavior.

So the takeaway from that is that I'm having a nice Nutrisystem Turkey Hot Dog for lunch.

Along with some cauliflower and a piece of whole grain bread (which is part of the serving instructions).  I put some nice brown mustard on it because you are a monster if you just eat plain hotdogs.  At any rate, I'm finishing off my cauliflower now, and will probably take today as a day fo rest to continue recovering from my ailment.  I really need to clean my apartment and unpack from the trip last weekend, but I've put it off for 5 days, so why not 6?

I'll, of course, be playing the video games this evening, and may play some this afternoon, but I kind of want to finish the 3rd Stieg Larsson book, so that I can sit around and be upset that they'll take years to publish his last manuscript, and then be annoyed that it'll probably leave too many unanswered questions, because he had planned like, four more books.

Stupid authors and their dying, I'm looking at you, Robert Jordan!  Don't think I don't see you over there, hiding behind Goodkind!  Yes, that motherfucker ripped you off in many ways and it's obvious.  But some of that shit is such basic fantasy tropes it's hard to make an argument about it.  And you know what else?  He fucking put some resolution into each book while building on a bigger mystery.  Not one of his fucking books was just a thousand pages of "here's more puzzles, no I won't solve any of the ones from the PREVIOUS TEN THOUSAND FUCKING PAGES YOU'VE READ".

So what if it's 95% blatant libertarian propaganda with strong COMMUNISTS WILL KILL US ALL AND TAKE MERKUH undertones overtones, I can find it amusing that he thinks he's Ayn Rand with a wizard hat.  So what if your books are better, the characters make more sense, and your characters aren't inhumanly understanding and forgiving of eachothers "flaws".

Oh wait, I guess that means Jordan's books are actually way better than Goodkind's but far more frustrating.  I mean, Goodkind's aren't necessarily BAD or OFFENSIVE, but they're easy to read and the message is delivered without any real-world context that asks you to really think about it.  The challenges are fairly easily overcome by the characters, deus ex machina abounds, and the hero saves the world through the free-market economy.  Could this mean that easy-to-read books in general are possibly not intellectually stimulating?  Could it in fact be argued that the damned things are actually damaging to your ability to progress cognatious thunk?

Well, I'll let you make up your own mind on that.  But there's no such thing as difficult-to-consume propaganda, and the only purpose of propaganda is to reprogram your fucking brain.

Wait, what the fuck was I talking about?  Oh yeah, I'm on a diet, and this afternoon I was gonna read a book in the sun (I kind of fucking love the South, right now), then shoot aliens in a video game.  Yeah, enjoy your Saturday, Fatheads.

Recovery, Continuing Diet

'Allo, fatheads!  So I managed to get through my full night of work last night, and left a little around 1am.  I had 2 apples, some carrots, and a Nutrisystem Grilled Chicken Breast between 2 slices of bread.  Also: a fuckton of cashews.  I'm now out of desk cashews (I brought the remaining cup or so home with me) so that should put an end to my worst current work snacking habit.

Weight:     309.0 lbs
Body Fat: 43.7%
Water:      43.1%

Weight loss continues, and I grabbed a frozen Nutrisystem Toasted Ham & Cheese for breakfast/lunch at about 11.

I rather enjoyed it, and ate that last cup of cashews to wash it down (THEY MUST BE CONSUMED).  So I'm now back to an 8-hour schedule at work, so 2:30ish to 11 tonight, and after that, REACH.  Maybe I should try to head in early so I can REACH earlier.  Later, Fatheads!

Weight:     310.0 lbs

Well, now that's nice to see.  I guess I'll move on to last night.  I took 2 apples, some carrots, a Nutrisystem Chicken Breast, some bread and a few olives with me to work.  I only ate the apples and some cashews from my desk.  I left work early because I was feeling like so much shit, and got home around 9.  When I got home, I had a grilled cheese sandwich, some sugarfree Twizzlers and a couple of pieces of Nutrisystem Ice Cream, for my miserable throat.

I got up this (late) morning, and had a Nutrisystem Frozen Meatball Parmesan Melt, along with a Nutrisystem Ice Cream Sandwich.  It was pretty good, and I'm now ready to hit the showers and try my hand at another 10-hour workday.  Worst case scenario: I take the rest of my sick leave and come home early.

Fatass is on the move.

Weigh In, First Night Back

So I'm on a really terrible schedule right now, because I need to flex schedule to make up for some time I took off.  This means I worked from 2:30 to about 1am last night.  I had to run to the store, then fell asleep around 4, and I woke up at 10am.

So that's what it is, moving on to yesterday's food.  For breakfast, I had a PB&J sandwich around noon.

To work last night, I took carrots, 2 small apples, 5 olives and a Nutrisystem Orange Chicken Breast With Vegetables and Rice meal.  It was alright.  I also snacked on way too many cashews that I have at my desk.  I may have to throw them away.  I'm coming down with a bit of a cold, so I'm not really enjoying much of anything right now.

Oh look, a boat.  On that note, it's time for me to grab lunch...

I feel like crap, but my Nutrisystem Select frozen lunch was pretty great.  I had the Chicken Quesadilla, and it was a good meal.

"You Used To Update Your BLOG!"

Fine, shut up, here's an update.  Had a great weekend with old friends celebrating the death of someone's manhood, which was, necessarily, bad for me and the immortal souls of everyone involved.

Weight:     315 lbs
Body Fat: 44.7%
Water:      42.3%

So we find ourselves here, with a few weeks to a wedding and my "not as ludicrously fat" clothes feeling a bit tight.  I'm going off the booze until the wedding, and then continuing not drinking until New Year's.

I'm on a bad schedule right now, since I need to make up for some time I took off for weekend travel, but here's roughly what I'm thinking:

9am wakeup/breakfast
10am workout
12pm lunch/shower
2pm work
6pm dinner
11pm home
1am bed

It's a bit off, but I think I can force myself to make it work.  I'd fucking better, I got fitted for my dinner jacket 8 lbs ago.  My rough goal is to get below 295 in the next 18 days.  It's just good to be back in the space of public self-humiliation.  Well, in a more quantifiable way than I've been recently.  Here's a pretty picture:

Halo Reach, Scale Failure

So my copy of Halo: Reach, Legendary Edition got here last night, and we've got unbox porn here: http://picasaweb.google.com/116739682075253702914/ReachUnboxing#

Yes, I'm a nerd forever for buying this, I don't care.  Call it a symptom of still feeling celebratory about finally finding a job.  I plugged in my various codes for spending that much money, ordered a pizza and set down for a solid 4 hours of nerding out.

I'd planned on enjoying Reach's campaign with some friends, but the usual crew either hasn't been convinced to buy the game (1), had their poor Xbox die out of warranty yesterday (1), or had things like "work" interfere with their video game time (the balance).  The real kicker on the dead Xbox was that it was a Halo 3 edition one, that was bought on sale some months after the game's release.

Moving on to what you really crave: my fatness numbers:

Weight:     ? lbs
Body Fat: ?%
Water:      ?%

You will notice that there are none.  You see, my scale has been getting increasingly erratic about turning on recently, and it refused to do so this morning.  Looking at the calendar, I realize I bought it almost a full year ago, and I probably need to replace the batteries.  So I've got them on order from the Amazon, and they should arrive in around 2 days.  I could probably just get them at the store, but they're easy to forget, and I always buy the wrong kind of coin-shaped battery, so I'm going the easy route on this one.

Yesterday, I had a South Beach snack bar for lunch around 11, and had one for a snack around 3.  For dinner, I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and am eating the leftovers for breakfast.  Now, I'm gonna finish that, and head off to work.

September 14, 2010

Reach Day, Early Morning

Well, it's that happy, happy day.  Reach is upon us, and I go to work insanely early, so I can be soloing by 3 o'clock this afternoon.

Weight:     308 lbs
Body Fat: 43.3%

Yesterday, I had a South Beach bar for lunch, and some carrots, a tangerine and grilled cheese for dinner.  I also ate one of these fantastic pastry things I made for work (FNG's always gotta bring food) but I limited my consumption, and didn't bring home any extra.

I just had a nice Nutrisystem Blueberry Muffin, a piece of wheat toast (carbohydrate), an 8oz glass of nonfat milk (dairy), a cup of coffee, and a clementine orange (fruit) for breakfast.  I feel full, and ready to lock the taskbar.  Now, I'm off to grab a quick shower and then work.  Later, bitches.

September 13, 2010

Weekend Unrest, Hateful Mornings

So I decided to try enjoying my weekend, and took a diet break as an experiment in how it would affect my weight loss.  I went out Friday night for drinks and ate fast food for dinner.  Saturday, I had pizza for dinner and beer for the vidja games.  Sunday I ate leftover pizza for breakfast and had some deli food delivered for dinner.  The result?

Weight:     309 lbs
Body Fat: 44%
Water:      42.9%

Well, we won't be repeating this experiment.  When I go off the wagon, I've realized I'm incapable of going it half-way, so it looks like I'm off the beer for a bit, barring special events.  Now, it's time to grab a quick Nutrisystem breakfast and go to work.  Nutrisystem cereal for an entree, non-fat milk for dairy, a juice box for fruit, and a slice of wheat toast for a carbohydrate will start this week properly.

Oh and now that we've both finished the fight and dropped, it may be noted that tomorrow is Reach day, and there was much rejoicing.  My copy's on pre-order from the Amazon, unboxing porn to follow.

It's been a good week for getting back on track, now I need to focus on not fucking up this weekend.

Weight:     302.2 lbs

For lunch, yesterday, I had a South Beach snack bar.  For dinner, I had a grilled cheese sandwich (I know, I feel 12, too, but I'm running out the damned cheese), 2 clementines, some carrots and broccoli, and some light ranch dressing.  I had a bunch of these South Beach snack pack trail mix things for dessert, too, which wasn't good.

For breakfast this morning, I enjoyed a clementine (fruit), a Nutrisystem Blueberry Muffin for an entree, 8 oz of non-fat milk (dairy), and a slice of wheat toast (carbohydrate).  Now, I'm off to work, and this evening I'll be going out for dinner.  I'm thinking salad.

Weigh In, Recap

Hello once again, party people.

Weight:     304.4 lbs
Body Fat: 42.8%

Yesterday, I had a South Beach snack bar for lunch, and I had some peanuts, a tangerine, some carrots and a grilled cheddar sandwich for dinner when I got home from work.  I'll be getting back into the swing of evening blogging soon, I'm still adjusting to my new schedule/finishing the last of unpacking (good lord, it seems like an interminable process).

Now, I'm going to have a quick breakfast of Nutrisystem cereal, non-fat milk (dairy), a slice of wheat toast (carbohydrate) and a clementine orange (fruit).

To recap yesterday's meals, since I didn't have time to photograph them or write about them yesterday, I had a south beach snack bar for lunch at around noon, and ate a (small) bag of peanuts and some salami when I got home from work and the supermarket around 3:30.  For dinner, I ate some baby carrots and a salami and pepperjack cheese sandwich.  Now, I'm off to eat a nice Nutrisystem breakfast of cereal, an egg (protein), a juice box (fruit) and a slice of wheat toast (carbohydrate).
