I'm getting used to living in an office, instead of on the factory floor. As a result of this, I've come up with a fun new office game! One thing you don't get on the floor, because of background noise, is people having hushed conversations where they're clearly trying to discuss something private/proprietary/etc without being overheard.
The game is this: immediately upon walking by/noticing one of these, you march right up to them and say, "everyone can hear what you're saying and it is incredibly offensive!" After this, walk away quickly before they have a chance to respond.

I just stumbled that, thought that everyone should enjoy it.
For dinner last night, I had a Lean Cuisine pizza, some romaine lettuce and light ranch dressing, a peach and some yogurt. For lunch, I had a yogurt and a peach. I had 2 South Beach bars for snacks at different points. It occurs to me that I am essentially eating like a lacto-ovo vegetarian, apart from the Lean Cuisine meals. This concerns me, as I'd hate to be taken for some kind of hippie.
I'm going to go grab breakfast, prepare lunch and get ready for work. I don't think I'll have time for a workout this morning, but if I finish eating in about 20 minutes I may.
Gettin' to it, Fatheads!

The Taste You'll Get Used To
I was at work until after 3am last night, not for any exciting or challenging project, but because I got deep into some training that I didn't want to stop until I'd finished it.
Weight: 296.4 lbs

Of course, that's not such a terrible thing, it's always nice to get payed, after all, and this means I can use less vacation for my time off, last week. I had some dry lettuce, some manner of Lean Cuisine spring rolls, some carrots and a Light&Fit yogurt for dinner last night. I had 2 South Beach snack bars, some carrots and a yogurt for lunch.
On the way home, I had to stop at the supermarket for essentials such as lettuce, salad dressing (ate just dry lettuce for lunch yesterday, it was unappetizing) and laundry detergent. So glad that the nice one by me is 24 hours.
This morning, I'm eating the same thing I did yesterday (not even giving you a new picture). Kashi cereal, a slice of raisin bread toast, a banana, and a peach. On the subject of the Kashi cereal: always amazing to me how much better health food tastes when you haven't allowed yourself to eat real food for a couple of days.
Not exactly "new" but new enough to me.
I'd seen this before, but I came across it yesterday morning before I went to work, and it made me laugh... and cry a little.
Didn't get to working out yesterday, just didn't have the time before I had to get ready for work. Going to be a similar story today, since I woke up fairly late. Maybe tomorrow morning?

Ecce, Ego Loquor Latine!
Man, I hate waking up late.
Weight: 298.8 lbs
Body Fat: 41.1%
Water: 45.1%
Ate half a bag of lettuce, 2 tbsp of light bleu cheese dressing, 2 south beach snack bars, a lean cuisine spring rolls meal (half a package), some carrots, an apple and an orange at work yesterday. Microwaved a mess of popcorn via brown paper bag method last night when I got home, and it is so much better than air-popped if you like it slightly burnt (and I do!). Thank you, person who introduced me to this method.
At any rate, I'm eating some more of this Kashi nonsense for breakfast, along with a slice of raisin bread toast, a peach and a banana.
Don't know if I'll have time to work out this morning, as I woke up at 8:30 instead of 8, and yesterday I was pushing the bounds of lateness, but I shall if I have time, and put it on a later entry if I do.
Still need to put together a lunch for today, so I'm going to get to that.
Do it, Fatheads!

Back In The Saddle
Back in the saddle. First full standard work-day with groceries in tow and appropriate wakeup time, and I'm comfortable calling it a success.
I'm engaging in more fruit consumption than I did when I was on Nutrisystem, largely because it is summer, I live in the south, and peaches are fantastic... the oranges are more a product of "it goes in my bag without needing any packaging". Today, I consumed 1 bag of romaine lettuce (it's a cheap way to keep my lazy ass from finding excuses not to have salads) which was spread across my lunch and dinner, a small thing of carrots (I need to measure my tupperware sizes), 1 small Fuji apple, a yogurt (60 cal Light&Fit, because I'm like, totally soul-sisters with Heidi Klum, ya'll!), and a BBQ Chicken Pizza from Lean Cuisine for dinner. Oh, and some manner of Maple South Beach Snack Bar.
I think the Lean Cuisine Pizza I ate may actually have new packaging, but whatever, it was good. Keep in mind, this food was spread across a 10-hour period, and was mostly portioned around a meal at noon and another at 6ish. When I got home, I ate a peach and an orange, because I was hungry, and I don't really have anything around I can be bad with, except possibly popcorn... but I don't have any butter, and air-popped bare popcorn is not delicious.
That's enough nonsense for me for one night, I'm trying an electronics off at 11 rule, and this isn't the only thing I wanted to use my computer for tonight... I didn't mean to make that joke, I need to pay bills.
G'night, Fatheads!

Saturday Night's Alright for Working
Stumbled a bit yesterday, as I still haven't quite made it to the grocery store. Grabbed Arby's for lunch, Chic-Fil-A for dinner and ordered some JJ's for second dinner (hey, I'm on a 10am-2am wakefullness schedule, gimme a break).
Weight: 303.8 lbs

On the plus side, I think I did quite a bit of good work towards re-hydrating yesterday. I'm having a JJ's sandwich for "breakfast" as well (Club Lulu) before I grab a triple-S and head in to work.
I'd like to poison your mind.

Jesus Christ, when did I start not minding yogurt? So I've got a spare minute this morning, so I thought I'd actually say what the hell I've been eating this week.
Enjoy this picture of a mountain.
Breakfasts have been a bit of a rush, with me trying to get a lunch together while eating. I've been having 2 pieces of raisin toast, and usually a banana or another piece of fruit, before leaving for work.
In my lunches, I've been packing a mess of romaine lettuce and light bleu cheese dressing for lunch, along with 2 oranges, a miscellaneous piece of fruit, 2 yogurts, the occasional granola bar, and some cashews. This has pretty well stretched across the course of my days, which have lasted up to 9pm some nights (to be fair, I'm transitioning to a swing shift of 12-8:30).
Dinners have been a bit more of a hodgepodge affair. I've grabbed dinner with co-workers a few nights, but I've been trying to keep with a rule of minimizing carbohydrates and focusing on protein (grilled/steamed vegetables instead of fries, no fried entrees, etc.).

No Food and Exercising ISN'T Anorexia
I'm far too fat to be anorexic, besides, I ate an apple this morning and a South Beach snack bar for lunch.

And look, my heart rate was a bit lower than and my exercise time was a bit half of what they were yesterday! In summary: I'm kind of tired, and rather hungry. As those of you who follow the Twitter may know, I ordered dinner to be delivered after I had time to workout and shower, so I could enjoy it thoroughly.
Mad Men from the Netflix is an excellent exercise companion, by the way. I watch it with subtitles and wear my headphones, through which I listen to a melange of techno, club anthems, pop and rap. I may switch it up a bit in the near future, as Shuffle has been picking up too many mellow things from the current playlist. Maybe that will make a good Sunday project.
[shower/dinner break]
Dinner arrived shortly after I got dressed, and I had some calamari, some fried flounder and some fried shrimp. It was a very good meal, and I look forward to an exciting day of work tomorrow. I'm going to go rehydrate a bit more, watch some Mad Men, then go to bed.
G'night, Fatheads.

Not A Fire
We had a false fire alarm in the building before I got home today, which meant I had to climb up 11 flights of stairs with my 30 lbs work pack on before again walking down the 11 flights to drop it off before I went for a short walk down by the docks... Wait, the docks here are very nice, it's touristy, I wasn't trying to buy drugs or Malaysian slaves.
At any rate, I'm thinking I might start taking the stairs as part of my daily routine when I get home, anyway. It's only a bit slower than taking the elevator, at least up to this floor, and it's good for my fat ass. Of course, I'm still taking the elevator in the morning, because fuck stairs at 5am (or whenever I actually end up getting out the door).
My original commitment to myself had been to drop my bag off, go for a short walk around the area, then come back home and hop on the elliptical. Despite the fact that I would dearly love to say that walking up 9 flights is an acceptable workout, it definitely isn't, so I need to force myself onto the elliptical before I'm allowed to consume foodstuffs.

'twas a good workout, despite being a bit shorter than the last two. I got a bit overexcited at the beginning and wasted some of my energy on some sprints, during what song I cannot recall. I feel like the many stairs walked up earlier help make up for it, a bit.
Now's as good a time as any to say that I ate an apple (fruit) for morning snack around 10 or 11, lunch was carrots (vegetable) and Nutrisystem Pasta with Beef around 12:30, and I had a bag of Nutrisystem Soy BBQ Chips around 3:45.
After workout, I grabbed some dinner. An apple (fruit), a slice of multi-grain bread (carbohydrate), a G2 Gatorade (small) and a Nutrisystem BBQ Sauce Over Beef, Beans and Rice (entree).
It's been a good evening, and now I need to get myself showered and headed to bed for work in the morning.

Do Me An Egg
Yesterday was a pretty decent day, let's hope today can compare.
Weight: 298.2 lbs
Body Fat: 41.4%
Water: 44.9%
All is well, despite my minor indiscretion with some fried seafood (but no fried potatoes).
I grabbed what I think is my last remaining bowl of Nutrisystem Nutriflakes Cereal this morning, along with an egg (protein), a slice of raisin bread toast (carbohydrate) and a juice box (fruit). I also packed up an apple (fruit/morning snack), some Nutrisystem lunch entree I didn't actually read the label of (lunch), some carrots (also lunch), and a bag of Nutrisystem BBQ Soy Chips (afternoon snack) for work.
I realized this morning that one of my flaws as a dieter has, once again, come back to haunt me. My most often skipped Nutrisystem meals on this diet are lunch and dinner, meaning I now face a surplus of them when compared with breakfasts. I'm thinking that I'll probably just pick up some high-fiber low-sugar cereals or start eating an egg in place of a Nutrisystem meal until I'm closer to balancing the scales on dinners.
This is only natural, of course. I never eat out for breakfast, even when I was on work travel. I sometimes eat out for lunch, although rarely. Dinner is by far the most often eaten out, either with coworkers after work, friends on the weekends, or grabbing takeout because I don't feel like preparing my own meal. Maybe I'll do another weeding of dinner entrees for the ones I don't like all that much to reduce the time until my next order. We shall see, it's not exactly pressing, and I still need to move some food from the one box into the cupboard before I'm sure exactly how bad a deficit I'm dealing with.
Oh Sting, you rapscallion!
That, too.
Later, Fatheads.

I'm going to put this down to electronic variance, not me making a massive fitness improvement in one day. I ate some peanuts before working out/after getting home from getting the precious washed.
Sweet god, do you know how amazing it is to go from a 13-year-old car to a car with less than 25k miles on it? And with a nicer engine/interior? And a fucking drop-top for the deliciously warm March weather in the South? What I'm trying to say is that I fucking love my car, be jealous.
This was one of my "rally songs" tonight. My typical cursing at myself took place, although I started out confident of a half-hour on the thing, I soon needed to verbally abuse myself to keep the physical abuse up. I alternated between calorie and time goals, stepping them such that by the time I was finished accomplishing one, I was at 50% of an increment to the other, so I'd be a fucking pussy not to finish it.
At work, I ate an apple for a morning snack, Nutrisystem Cheese Tortellini and some carrots for lunch, and a bag of Nutrisystem Zesty Herb Snack Mix for an afternoon snack just before I left the office. No bad behavior there.
All's well, I'm probably going to just have a glass of milk and some of these not-so-delicious "lemon snaps" "cookies" that I picked up at Whole Foods the other day, then put myself down for the night. Lent starts tomorrow, that means no more drinking and sex in the streets, people! Keep that shit indoors, Jesus says so.
On a related note, don't use tomorrow as an excuse to start a diet. The first of the year, the lunar calendar... these are terrible reasons to try and lose weight. You will fail if you use that as a benchmark. Just say you need to lose weight and do it, trying to use one of these popular times of year to do it just makes you another jackass who can't decide that he needs to stop fucking his life up for his own sake on his own terms.
Also, the Jesuits told me that it's wrong to use Lent for self-improvement. Some theological crap about it not really being a sacrifice if you're getting something out of it, I don't know. Don't give anything up for Lent, either, or if you do, keep it fucking secret. Betcha God will be way more impressed if he doesn't have to hear you telling your friends about what you dun gud fer Gawd. Hell, I know I will be so impressed with your secret achievements that I'll have the respect for you to say absolutely nothing about them.
Of course, if you tell me about them, I'll also have the disdain for you to say nothing about them. For me, this is a win-win, because you're a LOSER, and I'm WINNING!

Well, I'm not overly sore this morning, but there might be some chafing to contend with. Clearly, I will need to chafe my thighs into submission with more elliptical time this afternoon.
Weight: 303.6 lbs
Body Fat: 41.8%
Water: 44.6%
Same weight as yesterday, which I'll put down to drinking 3.5 quarts of water at work and another half gallon with dinner (rehydration). I feel comfortable calling the first day back in the shit a success.
For dinner last night, I had a Nutrisystem chicken and pasta dish, the name of which I cannot remember, but might have included the word "Penne", along with a slice of bread of many grains.
Breakfast this morning consisted of Nutrisystem Nutriflakes Cereal (bran cereal), along with a slice of raisin bread toast (carbohydrate), an 8oz glass of milk (dairy) and a juice box (fruit). There was also a half gallon of water and no vitamins, because I keep forgetting to fill my thing with them. Tonight, tonight I will remember.
That's the news, Fatheads.

That's the news, Fatheads.

Ellipsing Into The Sunset
I had to dig depressingly far back into the archives to find what I was looking for for formatting, but here we be:
60 mins Elliptical Trainer
Polar HRM
Calories Burned: 1079
Max Heart Rate: 186
Avg Heart Rate: 173
I decided it was time to sack up and start doing exercise again, so I determined to take a fifteen minute go on the elliptical after I put my laundry in the wash. This turned into a "C'mon, you pussy, you'd better give me at least 500 calories, justify that watch!". which went to "what? half an hour is enough for you? You fucking ate 4 donut holes at work today!" followed by "You little bitch, crapping out on me at an hour? Whatever, go suck some Gatorade and cry."
Yes, I verbally abuse myself on exercise equipment. Yes I lie to myself on exercise equipment. Yes, it works better than saying "c'mon, champ, I know you can give me one more mile!" Because motivation is for pussies, real men need abuse.
Prior to doing this, I ate a few peanuts when I got home. I'm not really feeling like eating a full meal for dinner, so I might just grab one of my Nutrisystem Entrees and call that good. Along with lots of water, of course, because I'm as dry as something that's a very dirty joke which I've decided not to tell.
I suppose I should also mention that at work, I ate a Nutrisystem Lunch of Cheese Tortellini along with some carrots, a bag of BBQ Soy Chips for an afternoon snack, and, over the course of the day, the 5 previously mentioned Dunkin Donuts Munchkins (because 'donut holes' isn't creepy enough).
This is the workout song of the night. Having now actually watched that video, I don't know if I can listen to it anymore without thinking of drunken club bathroom sex and vomiting. Time for me to move laundry to dryer, grab dinner, rehydrate and pass out.
Later, Fatheads.

Finished With My Weekend
Since I'm trying to get back to my normal habits as far as work time and posting goes, I'm going to be fairly brief this morning.
Weight: 303.6 lbs
Body Fat: 42.2%
Water: 44.3%
As expected, I'm just about where I was when I first arrived in Seattle. I haven't eaten yet, but I'm thinking one of the Nutrisystem Cereals with a glass of milk, a juice box and a slice of raisin bread toast for breakfast. I'll pack some fruit, a Nutrisystem Lunch and Snack, and maybe some carrots to eat while I'm at work. Now, it's time to get showered and return to my regularly scheduled job.
G'day, Fatheads.

Sunday Success
Well, I worked yesterday. I figure: they're paying me to be up here to get experience and learn the job, not to take a vacation, so I should maximize the experience I get, which means I'll be working today, too. Over the day, I had a few yogurts, an apple or two, a snack bar, and a Nutrisystem lunch bar.
For dinner, I had fast-food Chinese, with fried sugary chicken and noodles, which was a terrible decision. I never have the joint that serves that stuff in my home cities anymore (at least, for the last 7 years), so it's always an exciting novelty to go to one. I always seem to end up ill after doing so, however, so I should really quit it. There are a few other reasons for doing relatively cheap takeout tonight, but I won't get into them.

So it's been a pretty good week of hotel/expense account living so far, I think. There've been some rough spots, but through ridiculously long walks around the plant (comes with a ridiculously large plant) and keeping myself mostly under control, I think it's going better. I'm going to recommit to protein and vegetables for dinner, I think, because most of my rough spots have come from a direct result of too many carbs at dinner. They're alright a bit earlier in the day, when you're probably going to burn them off taking your fat ass up and down hills, but not so much in the evening, when you are going to pass out in your bed.
Well, I'm going to get my laundry organized to send out (I've volunteered as the test case for the service here, largely because I don't really like doing laundry in hotels/laundromats), grab a shower, pack a lunch, and then eat breakfast here in the hotel before I go to work. I'm supposed to eat dinner at some brewery tonight, where I will continue not drinking beer and probably get a steak and salad, no potato.
Where's my clock necklace? Salaam Alaykum, Fatheads.

Bad Behavior Has Consequences
So I'd been getting increasingly off-message with my behavior on the expense account, and today's standstill shows that it's time to get back to salads and protein.

If you'd rather not look (I wouldn't) that's down a bit from yesterday, but basically the same weight. I had pizza and a large salad for dinner last night, and a large turkey bacon cheddar sandwich with a large salad for lunch. Clearly, I need to continue walking to the far cafeteria, but tone down what I'm letting myself eat there (back to just salad) and I need to go back to salad with a protein entree (fish, steak or chicken) for dinner.
Well, it's probably time to actually do that whole work thing that they're paying me to be here to do.

Good Decisions, Bad Decisions
I ate in the work cafeteria yesterday for lunch (chicken sandwich and a salad) and had dinner out with coworkers (calamari and oysters before dinner, with stuffed cod, potatoes and asparagus for an entree). It's kind of hard to resist eating out, but I think my decisions were mostly sound.

Blackberry is Albatross
I've been known to name my electronics, largely following the logic of several of my classmates in college for computers, ie: "it's a girls name, because I stay up long nights with it etc etc." But work Crackberry has just been given the name "Albatross around my neck". Also: did it take anyone else forever to figure out you had to go to messages->folders->sms messages to get your texts?

Yesterday was another long day at the office, and I had not packed a dinner, so I went out when I finally left work with a coworker to a wing joint. It wasn't pretty. I ate according to the plan during the rest of the day, however, and didn't have beer with dinner (god, I miss beer).
Is it just me, or, at first glance, does the bird's head look like a dong? And the man is very sad because he has a freakish penis. [Source: Wikipedia Article]
Back to it, then.

Busy Busy Busy
I've become involved with a shop support project that has become something of an ordeal at work. Unfortunately, that means I was there until 10pm last night, and I'm going back into the shop this morning to continue to deal with it.

Yesterday, I had 2 egg mcmuffins without cheese for breakfast, and about 5 doughnut holes from Dunkin Donuts over the course of the day, as well as a bag of Nutrisystem Sour Cream and Onion Soy Chips. I left for dinner at about six, and had half a Bacon Turkey Bravo from Panera with an apple instead of chips and half of a chocolate chip cookie. When I got home, I ate the remainder of the sandwich and cookie, drank some gin and fell asleep watching Crank 2: High Voltage, which is possibly the best movie ever filmed. I'm, again, dehydrated and haven't crapped in a day or two, hopefully I'll get some "time for myself" this afternoon.
You like how I was vulgar and then I used a euphemism? Yeah, you do.
These are the breaks, Fatheads, ya'll take care, now.

Odd But Delicious
As I've noted, the last week at work has been a little... involved. I'm getting enough sleep and eating right, but that hasn't left much time for blogging, and today is no exception. HAHAHA, I just noticed, when I copypasta'd yesterday's weight, that I entered "398" instead of "298".

I feel a bit dehydrated but, on the other hand, I haven't taken a real crap in about 2 days, so I'll call it a a wash, on that front.
I've been doing a lot of eating out, but I've been being good. For example: last night I bought a reuben and a side salad (vegetables only, hold the cheese) from my deli, and gave half the reuben and the chips to a co-worker. You see, I left work for an off-site meeting and some other business, and had to go back. I ended up pulling a few hours of OT because I got sucked back into an issue as a result of going back, but what can you do?
I went out for some drinks and sushi with a coworker when I finally got off last night. I had a total of six pieces, 2 eel, 2 tuna, and 2 sea urchin. I'd never had sea urchin before, but I think it's my new favorite thing. It's got a very soft, delicate texture, but it doesn't fall apart. As far as flavor goes, it was kind of buttery, rather fishy, and reminded me somewhat of conch (cooked, I don't think you can eat conch raw). I stuck mostly to the clear liquors, but I did have some good old-fashioned whiskey. I steered clear of the sake and beer, beer being the greatest invention of mankind, of course. Unfortunately, beer is that one really killer (other than sugary drinks, which I don't drink, because God blessed me with a penis) drink for diets, and can blow you up real quick. At any rate, I'm going to run through mcdonalds and have an egg mcmuffin for breakfast, because I've wasted the ten minutes I should have spent making breakfast writing this post. I will, however, put together diet-appropriate work snacks and meals before I leave (Nutrisystem lunch, etc).
Keep it real, Fatheads.

Yay for Leftovers
SO I was intensely glad for my leftovers when I got home tonight, because I worked late and was in no way in a mood to deal with getting my various sides together.
For lunch I had my Nutrisystem Cheesy Homestyle Potatoes, along with broccoli and carrots, a juice box and yogurt for morning snack, and a bag of Nutrisystem BBQ Soy Chips for my afternoon snack.
When I got home, as I said, I was tired and happy that I had food ready. It was a busy day at work, but busy is good. I really love the work I do, especially when it's frustrating. I know that's perverse, but I'm an engineer, challenges make my day. Digging into various "opportunities for improvement" with people from other departments and figuring out how to solve problems is what I love doing, and it's a big part of what I do both when I'm crawling around on jets and when I'm back at my desk. On a side note: don't ever get aircraft sealant on your hand or clothing. It's designed to withstand 40 years or 100,000 cycles (flights), and I guarantee that shit is not coming off of your clothes without you melting a hole in them.
With that, I go to sleep. G'night, Fatheads.
